Yakuza gangsters are well-known for their peculiar tattoos and chopped off little finger. This mafia group is very strict when it comes to loyalty. Apart from their illegal money making activities, they have a large presence in Japanese media, enterprises and politics too. Today having around 102,000 members, this group came in emergence just after World War II engaging themselves in construction, real estate, fraud, blackmailing and extortion. This one is Japan’s largest mafia organization which runs many organized crime groups in the country. The group known for its extreme astringent rivalry with ‘Bloods Gangs’, is mainly involved in brutal murders, drug dealing, robber, and street snatching. All the Crips members wear blue cloths and also carry a blue bandanas. Considered as the largest association of street gangs in US, Crips is estimated to have around 30000-35000 total members. In late 1960s, this African-American gang emerged as a small gang called the ‘Baby Avenues’ and came out as ‘Crips’ becoming one of the most violent and unlawful gang in the world today. Probably this might be a reason they’re called a secret criminal society.
Unlike other gangs, they also run many legitimate businesses throughout Italy. Camorra is a secret criminal society that finances itself through cigarette smuggling, people smuggling, kidnapping, prostitution, illegal gambling, blackmailing, racketeering, and of course murders. It is the largest and most violent mafia group in Italy having more than 100 clans and approximately 7000 members. Founded in 1417 in Italy, Camorra is the oldest gang to secure a position in this list. Though at present they aren’t much in headlines but are still powerful enough to be ranked 10th in this list. There was a time this gang was considered the most powerful, dangerous and organized criminal group engaged in drug trafficking, killing, loansharking, labor racketeering, gasoline bootlegging, and stock market manipulation.
Also known as ‘Genovese Family’, this mafia group is considered to be the largest cocaine smuggler in Europe with having approximately 25000 total members worldwide. The Italian word Cosa Nostra means ‘Our thing’ in English.
